(Washington, DC)  --  The House is set to vote on a government spending package today to avoid a partial government shutdown.

House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries says he expects a substantial majority of Democrats to vote in favor of the bill. Most Republicans are expected to back the legislation as well, despite a group of conservative members who want to roll back spending. The Senate is expected to pass the legislation before the midnight deadline.

The deal would fund the government through the end of the fiscal year.
