(Minneapolis, MN) -- Turkey production is spiking in Minnesota.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced Thursday that the Land of ten-thousand-Lakes produced about 45-million turkeys this year for Thanksgiving. According to reports, that number accounts for 18-percent of the country's turkey supply.

The news comes as Minnesota was the nation's leader in turkey production last year with 40-million-birds.
