(Minneapolis, MN) -- The trial of former Brooklyn Center police officer Kimberly Potter is getting underway.

Jury selection begins Tuesday morning, with opening statements set for December 8th. Potter is charged with first and second-degree manslaughter for the deadly shooting of Daunte Wright during an April 11th traffic stop.  Wright's shooting set off several nights of protests.

In the meantime, Brooklyn Center will not be moving forward with a curfew following the release of the verdict in the trial. The city council voted down a proposal Monday that would have put an emergency curfew in effect the day the verdict is read. The measure required a unanimous vote to pass and two of the five council members voted it down.
