Drought conditions persist in western North Dakota

(Fargo, ND) -- Western North Dakota is seeing little relief for its drought conditions. 

Current data says 54.27% of the state is experiencing some form of drought. That number is up from last week, with 51.65% of the state experiencing some form of drought at the time. 

Five counties are experiencing "Extreme Drought". Those counties are Divide, McKenzie, Williams, Golden Valley, and Billings. Currently, no county in North Dakota is experiencing "Exceptional Drought", the most severe drought condition on the U.S. Drought Monitor.
