(Minneapolis, MN) -- Minneapolis-based Target will close nine stores across four states next month.

Retail officials announced yesterday that the move is made due to theft and threats to safety.

The Target stores affected are in New York City, Portland, Seattle and San Francisco.

Employees impacted by the closings will get the opportunity to work at other locations.
