(Bismarck, ND) -- The North Dakota Department of Agriculture says feral pigs are near the Canadian border and may cause problems if they enter the state.

Experts say the pigs can spread diseases, destroy crops, and interfere with the local ecosystem. The state veterinarian is keeping an eye on the pigs, which are a crossbreed between Eurasian Boars and domestic pigs.

Authorities urge any North Dakotans who see stray or wild pigs to report them to the Department of Agriculture, where they will be tested for disease and identified.
