(St. Paul, MN) -- The number of workplace deaths reported in Minnesota increased slightly in 2022.

The Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry says 81 workers died on the job last year compared to 80 in 2021. The highest numbers were recorded in areas of agriculture, fishing, forestry, and hunting, with 20 reported deaths in those categories. Falls, trips and slips were responsible for the highest number of deaths, followed by contact with objects and equipment.

Minnesota's deadly rate was lower than the national average, while the state's injury and illness rate was higher than the national rate. You can look at the previous fatal work-related injuries data by clicking here
