(Fargo, ND) -- A Fargo City Commissioner is returning to a national organization that helps develop federal policy and priorities for social services.

Commissioner John Strand has been appointed to the National League of Cities on the Human Development Federal Advocacy Committee. According to Fargo city officials, Strand is expected to represent towns, cities, and other municipalities across the country before multiple bodies, including the league and potentially Congress.

“It is very much an honor to sit at the table of the National League of Cities Human Development Committee. Not only do I get to learn from elected officials across the country, but they also get a sense of how we do things in Fargo,” remarked Commissioner Strand.

"Commissioner Strand will be an excellent representative for our community, and we are honored to have him representing the Upper Midwest," said Fargo Mayor Tim Mahoney.

Strand previously served on the same committee while on the NCL in 2023.
