Signing ceremony at North Dakota State Capitol to share tax revenue with tribal nations

(Bismarck, ND)  --   Governor Burgum is meeting with the chairman of the MHA Nation and the State Tax Commissioner this afternoon to sign an agreement to share alcohol tax revenue.

The state legislature approved a measure last year allowing the five tribal nations to enter separate agreements with the state.

MHA Nation Chairman Mark Fox has said the bill provides a fair way to share taxes generated by the sale and consumption of alcohol on the reservation.

The tribal nations will keep 80-percent of the tax revenue with 20-percent going to the state's general fund.
