CHASKA, MINN – A Republican running for governor in Minnesota says he’s been locked out of his iCloud account and contends it’s for political reasons.
Mike Lindell, the founder of My Pillow, is running for the seat currently held by Governor Tim Walz, who is not seeking reelection after two terms as governor. He said his inaccessibility has been noticed for the last three days.
“Apple has locked me out of my cloud, when I started putting governor stuff in last week,” he told The Flag’s What’s On Your Mind. “They said, ‘We’re not giving it back. You’re not getting it opened.’”
Lindell said the options he was given were to get a new phone or download the information from his phone.
“I have text messaging with everybody. I can’t lose that,” he said. “This is how I run my business. (It) goes all the way back to 2013, over 75,000 pictures.”
Lindell says locking his access to iCloud ‘was done intentionally.’
“We put in about a week ago my contacts,” he said. “I sent them all notices of running for governor and stuff, and that’s the day they shut it off. Maybe they don’t want me communicating with everybody.”
He maintains he did nothing wrong.
“We’ve asked them, and I said, ‘If I did something wrong, against your policy, I want to know what it is and there has to be an appeal process,’” Lindell said.
Flag Family News has reached out to Apple for comment on this story, but did not immediately hear back.
