Vikings earn first win of the season against Carolina

(Charlotte, NC) -- The Vikings controlled the second half during a 21-13 win over the Carolina Panthers at Bank of America Stadium.

The Vikings trailed by six heading into halftime after a 99-yard pick-six by Sam Franklin and two field goals, but Harrison Smith forced a third-quarter fumble that DJ Wonnum returned 51 yards for a go-ahead touchdown. Kirk Cousins hit Justin Jefferson for a touchdown on Minnesota's next drive, and Smith sacked Bryce Young to force a turnover-on-downs on Carolina's final possession. Smith finished with three sacks as Minnesota held Carolina to 232 yards of offense. Cousins passed for 139 yards, two touchdowns, and two picks, while Jefferson had 85 receiving yards and two scores.

Minnesota is 1-3 and hosts the Chiefs on Sunday.
