UND's Jackson Blake named NCHC Player, Forward of the Year

UND’s Jackson Blake has been named both the NCHC’s Forward of the Year and Player of the Year.

The Sophomore recorded an NCHC record 37 points (11 goals and 26 assists) in 24 conference games.On the season Blake is second in the nation with 57 points on 21 goals and 36 assists. Heading into Friday night’s NCHC semifinals matchup against Omaha, he has 99 career points (37 goals and 62 assists). Blake is trying to become only the second player in program history to record 100 points in two seasons. As of right now the only player to accomplish the feat was Zach Parise in 2003-04.

Blake is now the third Fighting Hawk to earn the NCHC Forward of the Year honor, joining Jordan Kawaguchi (2019-20) and Shane Pinto (2020-21). Additionally, he is now the 10th player in program history to be named the Forward of the Year, between the WCHA (8) and NCHC (2).

No. 1 seeded UND is set to take on No. 4 seeded Omaha in the NCHC Frozen Faceoff semifinals.The puck will drop at 4:07 p.m. with game coverage available on CBS Sports Network. No. 2 seeded Denver will then battle No. 3 seeded St. Cloud State in the second semifinal scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The winner of the two semifinals will play in the NCHC championship game on Saturday night with puck drop at 7:38 p.m.

The NCHC Frozen Faceoff is being played at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
