Twins 12-game winning streak snapped against Red Sox

(Minneapolis, MN) — The Minnesota Twins winning streak was halted at 12 games following a 9-2 loss to the Boston Red Sox at Target Field.

The game was tied at one entering the fifth before Joe Ryan gave up a go-ahead two-run homer to Ceddanne Rafaela. The floodgates opened when Boston plated four runs in the eighth to take control of the game. Ryan Jeffers went deep in the losing effort, while Ryan was charged with the loss after surrendering three runs on four hits in six innings. Minnesota is in second place in the AL Central at 19-14.

Simeon Woods Richardson starts for the Twins against Seattle on Monday night.

In other club news, the Twins placed Byron Buxton on the ten-day injured list due to knee inflammation over the weekend.
