Per a report by ESPN’s Pete Thamel, the NCAA men’s and women’s basketball tournament as expanding from 68 teams to 76 teams in the annual March Madness tournaments.
Thamel’s report said the NCAA has initiated the final steps to expand both tournaments. This decision follows years of anticipation and debate on the expansion.
In a post on X, Thames said the goal is to finalize the expansion in mid-May and would take effect beginning in the upcoming 2026-27 season.
