Moorhead Native and Minnesota Congressional Candidate Opens up on Battle with Mental Health

(Moorhead, MN) -- It's something he hopes will be normalized by his own experience.

Mark Lindquist is looking to unseat incumbent 7th district Congresswoman Michelle Fishbach in 2022, but for now, is trying to help everyone understand what he's going threw mentally.

"I hope this allows people on the national stage, and locally with family and friends to be open about their mental health struggles," said Lindquist in a posted video to Facebook Thursday.

Lindquist, who is known to perform the National Anthem at some Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks games and for the University of North Dakota Hockey, said he checked himself into the Fargo VA Mental Health Clinic last week for what he says was "suicidal thoughts".

The Democrat credited Simone Biles coming out to address here mental health issues as one of the key factors for why he felt comfortable to do so as well.
