Minnesota DFL District 4 endorses Kupec for State Senate

(Moorhead, MN) -- Minnesota Democrats in District 4 have their man as the race for State Senate begins to take shape.

Rob Kupec was endorsed by the Minnesota DFL at their District 4 convention in Glyndon on Saturday. The seat is set to be vacated by DFL State Senator Kent Eken.

“I’m honored to have the support of the DFL and look forward to talking with citizens about how I can be a strong advocate for the fourth district," said Kupec in a statement released to WDAY Radio.

Kupec is a familiar face to many people in the region. He has been Chief Meteorologist at KVRR- TV in Fargo for the last nine years and previously worked at WDAY-TV as a meteorologist and reporter. He has lived in Moorhead for over 20 years.

“This area has been served well in St. Paul for years by people like Senators Keith Langseth and Kent Eken, and Representatives Paul Marquart and Heather Keeler," said Kupec. "I want to continue that tradition of serving the residents of Clay and Becker counties.”

Kupec says a few of his key priorities he'll be running on are:

  • Protecting our farm economy and water recreation from climate change
  • Helping seniors stay in their homes longer with property tax relief
  • Addressing shortages of long-term care workers Ensuring access to affordable, quality education, from pre-K through college.

Republicans in the district are still working through several candidates in the race.
