(Fargo, ND) -- A former state legislator is banking in on his experience in Bismarck, along with his vision for Fargo as key reasons you should vote for him this June.

Former State House Majority Leader Al Carlson has officially announced his candidacy for commission.

The 73-year-old Republican served in the house in Fargo's district 41 for over two decades, beginning in 1993. He retired from the role in 2018.

Carlson joins 14 others in the race to fill Commissioner Tony Gehrig's soon-to-be-vacant seat, and the seat currently filled by Dave Piepkorn. Piepkorn is also one of the candidates, running for re-election for his position.
