Sex offenders - the higher the risk, the more information shared by Cass County Sheriff's Department

(Fargo, ND) -- The greater the risk that a registered sex offender presents to the public, the more information about the offender is shared with the public. That's according to a Cass County Sheriff's detective.

"Our high-level offenders anytime they move into our area, that's where you see the one where they'll be on all the 6 and 10:00 news, they'll be on all the Facebook pages for the law enforcement agencies.  A lot of times the cities themselves, like out in the county, the smaller communities will have a public release with all of the citizens of their town as well," said Detective Lance Kitzan.

Kitzan says his office works with North Dakota BCI officials in keeping track of sex offenders. He talked about notifications for the public while appearing on the Coffee Club on WDAY AM 970.
