(Fargo, ND) -- The Mayor of Hawley has issued a statement asserting there have not been any discussions or negotiations with developers regarding the city property which includes baseball and softball diamonds.

The statement comes following a city council meeting Tuesday night in which the future of the complex was discussed.

"At the meeting last night many Hawley citizens were concerned about potentially losing our town ballfields. This has never been an option. The City understands the importance of what the ballfields bring, and has no intention of leaving kids and organizations with no place to play baseball," said Mayor Sean Mork.

"Regarding the rodeo grounds, the City is fully aware of the importance they are to our community. The council fully shares the views expressed last night and the positive impact the rodeo and rodeo grounds have to our area. At no point has this been included with any development discussions."
