Fargo man deemed fit to stand trial in attempted murder case

(Grand Forks, ND) --  A Fargo man accused of attempted murder in Grand Forks has been deemed competent to stand trial.

Police say 19-year-old Makai Summers stabbed Allen Torrey Jr. in the chest during an argument in August. Torrey was badly injured in the incident, and had to undergo surgery. Summers was arrested and charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault. He was committed to the North Dakota State Hospital for evaluation in October due to concerns about his mental health.

Summers' preliminary hearing is set for January 8th.
