(Wahpeton, ND) -- Two parents are facing child neglect charges in Richland County court after the school district reported their child has missed too much school.
John and Monti Jo Adams are accused of not providing proper parental care for their child's physical, mental, and emotional health. Court documents show their son missed 58 days of school between August 24th and December 14th in Wahpeton, and the school district says they've exhausted all of their efforts to get the child to attend school. The district says the boy will likely have to repeat his current grade.
Investigators say the boy told them that he sleeps, plays Xbox, and takes care of his mom and dad throughout the day.
