(St. Paul, MN) -- Law enforcement officers in Minnesota are beginning training to use roadside tests to determine if someone is under the influence of marijuana.

The training that starts today is part of a pilot program that was authorized by state lawmakers when marijuana was legalized in the state last year. The roadside tests are designed to work in the same way that breathalyzers test for alcohol impairment.

Results gathered during the pilot program can't be used in court, but the data collected will be used for a report to the state legislature next year.
